Join us for our VIRTUAL 8th Annual Be the Light Gala and enjoy musical entertainment with Ryan Hiller, four-course fine dining meal kits by The Fish Market, VIP Swag Bags, Shelter to Soldier custom gala cocktail with mixologist instruction, moving veteran recipient testimonials and an exciting silent and live auction by Clint Bell. All proceeds from the event will benefit Shelter to Soldier's service dog training program.
Shelter to Soldier is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and rescue organizations and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 combat veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences.
Shelter to Soldier is committed to “Saving Lives, Two at a Time.” Through our life-saving program, veterans are given the valuable resource of an assistance animal during a time that they feel lost and alone. Shelter dogs are given a second chance and a purpose outside of the shelter much different than a past that has felt abandonment.
Our Be the Light Gala is a critical component of our annual fundraising efforts and contributes significantly to the impact we are able to make in the dog rescue and veteran communities in Southern California. Headquartered in San Diego and in operation since 2012, Shelter to Soldier has successfully trained and placed 33 dogs in working service and one emotional support dog (ESD) with veteran handlers, and our goal is to place 8 more this year. On average, we have 24 dogs in our training program at all times. We hope to grow our number of annual graduations with more funding. With the support of community partners, our elite service dog training program continues to save the lives of dogs with an otherwise uncertain future and the lives of veterans from potential suicide ideation and risk.

Live music will close out the show following the fundraising portion.
